Cloudy with an 80% chance of rage...
Is it really necessary to watch the ‘Weather Network’ on full volume from 8:00 in the morning indefinitely? Because that’s what my next-door neighbor was doing while I was trying to grab an extra hour of sleep this morning.
Now…I just moved in, and the last thing I want to do is start a feud with some couple living right next to me…but I mean...FULL BLAST? I gave the slightly courteous ‘3 bangs on the wall’ to let them know I was trying to sleep…but that didn’t seem to register. I’m hoping it was a one-time thing…but my guess is this will be a recurring theme from here on out.
Is it too early for a ‘friendly note’ from the new guy in the apartment next door asking that they refrain from blasting the Weather Network until maybe 10:00 am? Is that too much to ask? Or am I going to have to bite my tongue (and plug my ears) on this one?
Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Fire with fire is the best strategy for apartment living. Pick an inconvenient time and let the Alice in Chains rip.
I am trying to figure what i might do if it were my situation. It's a hard one. You don't want to alienate a neighbor, and hey, it might have been something like they were high, or out and left the damn thing on. But, if it happens more often, then i'd be doing the above. Get a nice set of drums, and bang away.
What makes me think it was to cover up, or an accident:

Jenn…you’re right, I don’t want to alienate a new neighbor, and maybe it was some sort of ‘cover-up’…cause there was someone there at one point, and who in their right mind watches the weather network for 2 hours? At full volume? It occurred to me that they might just like the background noise/music or something…or they were too stoned to know it was VERY loud...but still...its a little inconsiderate to be doing that at 8 am. Thankfully, all was quiet this morning…so hopefully it was an oddity rather than the norm.
